Our Mission

The United States Junior Investment Challenge (USJIC) is a nonprofit organization on a mission to empower and educate teenagers about personal finance literacy while fostering a deeper understanding of economics. Through engaging initiatives, educational programs, and our annual Challenge. USJIC aims to equip the next generation with the essential skills and knowledge needed to make informed financial decisions and pave the way for a financially secure future.

According to JumpStart, two-thirds of high school students fail a basic financial literacy test, and only 21 states out of 50 mandate finance courses in high school in 2023. (Council for Economic Education), and in 2019, women’s global representation on executive committees in major financial services firms was only 20% in the United States. (Catalyst) 

This Challenge gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with investing in stocks and to promote money knowledge while having fun! Competition placement will be judged solely on portfolio performance; though not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged for participants to submit a short statement detailing your investment strategy.
